More Tips

The city of Phoenix was awarded a $25 million federal grant from the U.S. Department of Energy Better Buildings Neighborhood Program and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to launch the Energize Phoenix program in partnership with Arizona State University and with support from Arizona Public Service. The Energize Phoenix program saves energy, creates jobs and will transform a diverse array of neighborhoods along a 10-mile stretch of the Metro light rail.

Energize Phoenix Business/Commercial Programs

Energize Phoenix Small Business Program

Schools of any size and businesses with an average monthly demand of 400kW or less (approximately $14,000 per month or less in utility expenses) and located in the Energize Phoenix Corridor, may be eligible for the Energize Phoenix Small Business Program. This program works in conjunction with APS Express Solutions, targeting common lighting and refrigeration upgrades.

Did you know?

Lighting costs typically account for about one-third of the annual commercial business electric bill. Installing advanced lighting technology can make significant reductions in the amount of money you spend to light your space of building. Also, between 15 to 50% of refrigeration energy costs can be reduced by replacing old parts and installing controlled systems.

APS rebates typically cover 60 to 90% of the project cost. In many cases, Energize Phoenix will cover the remainder, adding up to 100% of your project costs!

Energize Phoenix HVAC Tune-Up Program

The Energize Phoenix HVAC Tune-up program offers incentives to help pay for up to 100% of a diagnostic performance check of HVAC cooling equipment for businesses and non-residential APS customers located within the Energize Phoenix Corridor.

The Energize Phoenix program leverages the APS Advanced Diagnostic Tune-up program by providing a matching rebate (not to exceed the service cost) for HVAC Tune-up services. Commercial air conditioning (DX) systems must be at least three years old and four tons or greater with attached duct work to be eligible for this program.

Did you know?

Poorly maintained HVAC equipment consumes more energy than it should and can cost more to operate. It is also more prone to breakdowns that can increase repair and down-time costs. An Advanced Diagnostic Tune-up can improve the operating efficiency of your cooling equipment and identify potential repairs before your equipment breaks down. Savings vary depending on the type of equipment and its condition, but taking these steps can potentially cut your cooling costs by more than 20%.

APS rebates typically cover 75% of the project cost and in many cases Energize Phoenix will cover the rest. Up to 100% of your tune-up costs could be covered!

Energize Phoenix Business Program

The Energize Phoenix Business Program leverages existing APS Solutions for Business rebates by providing a matching rebate (not to exceed 100% of incremental cost) for energy efficiency projects including, but not limited to, lighting, HVAC, motors, and refrigeration.

The heating, ventilating and air-conditioning (HVAC) system has a major influence on the comfort and quality of a building’s indoor environment. The HVAC system also accounts for 30 to 50% of a commercial business’s annual electric bill. This includes chillers, motors, variable speed drives, fans and pumps.

Energy efficiency improvements may save you up to 18% on your monthly utility bill.
